Time Is More Valuable Than Money, Here’s Why
If you’re like me, you meticulously track your revenue.
You pore over expenses, and strategize every financial move.
You wouldn’t dream of letting dollars slip through the cracks without a second thought.
But what about your time?
Is it given the same attention to detail and security as your money?
After all, time is one resource that, unlike money, you can never replenish?
As a business owner, I get it.
The bottom line is important.
Yet, I’ve seen how easily time evaporates and the effect it has on that bottom line of our lives.
Remember COVID lockdown? That was 5 years (half a decade) ago! If you are thinking “wow, that seems like yesterday,” you know how quickly time passes.
Or, if you’re approaching a milestone birthday—or watching your child near graduation—it’s likely bittersweet.
In those moments, I’ve found myself wondering:
When did that small hand in mine grow so big and independent?
Did I do enough? Enjoy enough? Laugh enough?
We fill our days with tasks, meetings, and putting out fires, often without a clear sense of where those precious hours are truly going.
We tend to take time for granted, assuming there will always be more. But is that really the case?
Let me drop a few truth bombs…
- Money is renewable. Time isn’t. You can always earn more, but once a minute is gone, it’s gone forever.
- If you knew you had 1,000 days left in this decade, how would you spend them? This might sound stark, but it forces us to confront the finite nature of our time.
It’s time for a reframe:
Think of your time as valuable capital, just like your money. And consider achieving your professional and personal vision as the ROI. Then ask yourself:
- What are your high-return activities? What tasks directly contribute to your biggest goals?
- What’s important to success but someone else should or could be doing it? Where are you the bottleneck?
- What time investments don’t directly make you money, but deeply fulfill your vision?
This is where your vision becomes your most powerful time management tool.
It acts as a filter for how you spend your most valuable asset. If your daily to-do’s aren’t aligned with your aspirations for the next 10 years, maybe it’s not worth even an hour.
Because here’s the truth:
You’re not just buying back time to grow your business.
You’re buying it back so you can live with impact & fewer regrets.
So you can laugh more, rest more, and say yes to the parts of life that don’t show up on your P&L—but matter most.
📚 Micro Lesson
The DRIP Matrix from Dan Martell’s “Buy Back Your Time”
In his book, Martell outlines a powerful tool to help leaders reclaim time for what matters—both in business and in life.
DRIP stands for:
- Delegate – Offload what others can do, so you’re not the bottleneck.
- Replace – Let go of roles you’ve outgrown. You’ve got more important things to do now.
- Invest – Spend time on what builds your future: vision work, systems, your team—and yourself.
- Production – Do the work that only you can do—the kind that moves the needle and lights you up.

I invite you to use this matrix to audit your calendar—not just to be more efficient, but to live more intentionally.
Because time isn’t just money.
It’s meaning.
Takeaways:
- It’s time to be as intentional with your time as you are with your money. Start viewing your hours, days, and weeks through the lens of your overarching vision.
Cheers to filling your wallet watch,
